Nearly 50% of this island is protected by the Canary Islands Network for Naturally Protected Areas. This is the second most protected islands in the world. With a wide diverse history and scenic areas to visit you will need nothing and get everything when vacationing on the Gran Canarias.
The tourist board was put into place to keep a high level of interests for everyone that comes to visit. Without this board, you might not know of anything that is going on with the local culture and other gatherings that happen. They try to keep everyone informed about what is going on with the island and other protected areas so tourism can stay to provide a source on income to this island. It takes money to keep the island beautiful and running properly for everyone to enjoy.
